Former Tumwater T-Bird in Final Four
6’ 9”, 240-pound junior forward Jozsef Szendrei will be the lone Washington representative at the Final Four this weekend. The native of Budapest, Hungary played high school basketball at Tumwater as a foreign exchange student. At Tumwater he averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds as a senior in leading the T-Birds to a fifth-place finish at state with a 22-6 record. He was named to the All-Tournament team. At state that year Joszef was very humble about his game when giving his self-assessment. “I don’t think I’m a D-1 player right now but that’s OK. I’m OK with playing D-2, D-3, NAIA or whatever. I just want a chance to play in college, continue to improve my game and get an education.”
